HOEI Becomes Authorized Volicon Distributor in Japan

“HOEI’s experience in the Asian broadcast market will be extremely valuable as we continue to expand industry adoption of our award-winning Observer systems. The Observer represents an entirely new kind of solution for this market, and HOEI already has proved to be diligent in its efforts to make Japanese broadcasters aware of the competitive benefits and cost savings enabled by this innovative system.”

Volicon, a leading provider of media monitoring, recording, archiving, and streaming solutions, and Japanese broadcast systems dealer HOEI Sangyo Co. today announced that HOEI has been named the authorized Volicon distributor in Japan. Tokyo-based HOEI will provide localized sales, support, and training for Volicon’s Observer multichannel video monitoring and logging systems. The company also represents Volicon and its products at key trade shows across Asia, including the Inter BEE show in Japan.

HOEI boasts broad experience with audiovisual recording media and IT-based broadcast systems, and already has made its first sale of an Observer UNO system to KAB (Kumamoto-Asahi- Broadcaster). HOEI purchased a second Volicon Observer system, which the company will keep and incorporate into its demonstration model for client testing and evaluation.

“HOEI’s experience in the Asian broadcast market will be extremely valuable as we continue to expand industry adoption of our award-winning Observer systems,” said Eli Warsawski, Volicon’s president and CEO. “The Observer represents an entirely new kind of solution for this market, and HOEI already has proved to be diligent in its efforts to make Japanese broadcasters aware of the competitive benefits and cost savings enabled by this innovative system.”

Based on a powerful, proprietary streaming video engine and player, the Observer allows a large number of users simultaneous access to multiple channels of live and archived content from their desktop using a Microsoft Internet Explorer Web interface. Users can log their own and competitors’ broadcasts, as well as search, retrieve, analyze, and export video clips with metadata, locally or remotely. The system purchased by KAB through HOEI is a single-channel system, which will provide a permanent archive of all content broadcast over the air and verify compliance to government regulations and advertiser contracts.

“We’re very pleased to be representing Volicon products in Japan,” said Mr. Takanori Kudo, group manager of System Products’ sales department. “The unique capabilities of the Observer system offer many new benefits to broadcasters. With Volicon systems among the best-of-breed systems we supply, we’re able to offer Japanese broadcasters new levels of functionality and efficiency in monitoring broadcast integrity and content.”
