Volicon Announces New Observer-HD at IBC2006
“The new Observer-HD reflects the shift towards HD technology occurring in today’s broadcast market. It will offer the same powerful media logging and monitoring as our traditional standard-definition Observer, but with 16:9 aspect ratio of the HD signal.”
Volicon, a leading provider of video monitoring, recording, archiving, and streaming solutions, will announce the newest product in the company’s award-winning line of Observer broadcast monitoring and logging systems at IBC2006. An industry first, the Observer-HD will offer users 30-day, HD signal logging and monitoring capabilities for two or four channels, and will feature Dolby 5.1 Sound.
“The new Observer-HD reflects the shift towards HD technology occurring in today’s broadcast market,” said Gary Learner, chief technology officer at Volicon. “It will offer the same powerful media logging and monitoring as our traditional standard-definition Observer, but with 16:9 aspect ratio of the HD signal.”
Similar to the standard Observer, the new Observer-HD will support large numbers of simultaneous users, with 24/7 access to live and archived HD content from their desktop using a Microsoft Internet Explorer®-compatible interface. Broadcasters can record, store, search, retrieve, and view HD material, in real time, from multiple broadcast sources and from any desktop within the broadcast facility. Users can also export any HD content outside the facility via Volicon’s powerful proprietary streaming media engine.
Volicon plans to begin delivery of the new Observer-HD later this year. In addition to announcing the Observer-HD at IBC2006, Volicon is demonstrating the Observer 3.0 media monitoring solution and Observer UNO, designed especially for single-channel environments. At IBC2006, Volicon will also be highlighting the company’s newest product, RPM (Remote Program Manager), developed to help MSOs and Cable operators monitor the quality of their broadcasts in central and remote unmanned headend facilities.
