About Volicon

Since 2004, Volicon (from the Greek words “volo” for speed and “ikonas” for image) has been dedicated to offering the state of the art in turnkey digital video archiving and streaming solutions. Volicon’s first customers — CBS News and Discovery Networks — were the precursors to today’s worldwide customer base of more than 300 major broadcast networks, cable service providers, and government/corporate organizations. Currently, Volicon’s flagship Observer® multichannel video monitoring and logging system is actively monitoring more than 3,000 video channels around the world.

With headquarters in Burlington, Mass., Volicon serves its customers with a dedicated team of partners, resellers, and distributors worldwide.

Our People

Eli Warsawski — Founder, Director, President and CEO

Eli brings over 20 years of experience in product development and operations to Volicon. He co-founded several companies, including Univision Technologies and Exatel, Inc., where he served as president and CEO. Univision was sold in 1997 to Visicom, Inc., now part of L3 Communications. Eli holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in computer science and business management from Northeastern University ,Boston, MA. Eli is a member of the MIT Entrepreneur Forum.

Julius Perl — Founder, Director, VP of Operations and Marketing

Julius has over 20 years of product design, management and marketing experience. He was a co-founder and VP of engineering at Univision Technologies and co-founder and director of Exatel. He holds several patents for inventions in the field of digital video image processing. He earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA) in 1974, and a master of science in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, in 1976.

Russell Wise — VP of Sales

Russell has over 18 years of experience with the digital media, television, cable, satellite, and Internet markets. He has provided leadership with both established companies and innovative start-ups. Russell was responsible for directing a $100M sales business at Motorola Broadcast and Satellite Division (formerly General Instrument). He also was responsible for developing Motorola’s entry into the HD television market. He has been responsible for growing the sales efforts of new venture companies such as Triveni Digital where he lead the company’s entrance and revenue growth into the broadcast, cable, and satellite communication markets. Russell has an MBA from Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA.

Gary Learner — Chief Technical Officer

Gary is an entrepreneur and a technologist with a proven track record in the high-tech industry. He has over 16 years of experience in the video imaging field, including Director of Software Development at Univision Technologies and co-founder of Exatel. Gary held senior engineering and management positions with PictureTel and Polaroid. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Northeastern University, Boston, Mass.,and an MBA from Boston University, Boston, Mass.

Ishai Gandelsman, CPA — Chief Financial Officer

Ishai Gandelsman has over 20 years of experience in the accounting and finance industries dealing with corporate finance, operations, planning acquisitions and analysis. Prior to joining Volicon Inc., Ishai served as chief financial officer at FilesX Inc. (now part of IBM) and WorkplaceIQ, Inc. Ishai earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the Rishon College of Management.

Paul M. Shatz — Director

In his 25 years in management at A.G. Edwards and Sons as S.V.P., Financial Services, Paul Shatz originated ten underwritings and was considered to be the dean of the mutual fund industry. During his tenure from 1962 to 1987, Edwards grew from a small firm of 12 branches to over 450 branches, from 120 brokers to over 5,000, and fund sales went from six million dollars to over three billion.

Mark Goodman — Director

Mark Goodman is a partner at Brookline Venture Partners, a venture capital firm focused on post-seed, pre-institutional investments in technology and media companies. His background includes capital markets and corporate finance experience with First Chicago Corporation, as well as operational roles in a family retail business. Mark graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Emory University with a BA in economics and philosophy. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a PhD in philosophy from Boston College.

Jonathan Seelig — Director

Jonathan Seelig is co-founder of Akamai, a company which created the world’s largest and most widely used on-demand distributed computing platform, routinely handling 15% of total Internet traffic. Jonathan is recognized as an industry thought leader and has spoken at major industry events and conferences. Prior to Akamai, Jonathan worked for ECI Telecom where he led teams in network design, equipment deployment, and customer training for international telecommunications projects. Jonathan graduated with honors from Stanford University with a B.S. degree in physics. Currently Jonathan is a managing director in Globespan Capital Partners, Boston.

Meir Hadar — Director

Meir Hadar is a highly successful business executive with 20 years of experience in commercial and investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and secondary offerings, management and consulting. He has executed over 100 public and private equity placements and is well connected in the local and international high-tech and biotech Industries. Meir was the president and CEO of Orama Ltd., (IDB Group), an international VC fund with a vast partnership network, as well as the president and CEO of YLR Capital Markets and YLR Underwriting and Investments for 10 years. Today, Meir is the CEO of Naftali Investments.

Yair Goldfinger — Investor / Advisor to the Board

Co-founder and former CTO of ICQ, Yair is credited with the creation of instant messaging, the technology that has revolutionized the way we communicate on the Web. His successful invention was bought by AOL. Currently Yair serves as the CTO of Dotomi, the creator of direct messaging serving the needs in the advertising market. Yair holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and is an active investor in several start-up companies.
