SCTE 2008: Booth 213, Jun 25-27
Quality of service and quality of experience have never been more important to cable operators and broadcasters, who today face growing competitive pressure to convert to fully digital operations and provide high definition offerings to discriminating viewers. The industry standard for video monitoring and logging, Volicon Observer RPM gives cable operators a powerful, competitive weapon by enabling them to deliver the highest quality viewing experience possible. The Observer RPM is an advanced desktop media monitoring solution that captures, stores, and scans content from set-top boxes, offering users simultaneous, 24/7 access to video from their desktop computers. At the 2008 SCTE Show, Volicon will demonstrate a number of new products and extensions to the Observer RPM, including the recently announced QoE module as well as features that maximize cable operators’ ability to monitor remote stations, scan all delivered channels from set-top boxes, and detect transmission errors.
Observer Quality of Experience Module
Volicon will demonstrate a new Quality of Experience Module for Observer RPM that automatically detects macro-blocking or “pixelization” of the image due to video stream errors or overcompression. With the QoE Module, the Observer RPM is the industry’s first video monitoring solution to provide an automated method for analyzing a video image to detect macro-blocking, which has traditionally required human intervention to spot the on-screen anomalies.
